| Chapter Election Results |
updated 12/31/2006
From Peter Sartucci:
" The results of the D/B Chapter elections are in!
The votes cast were:
29 Freya Jackson
28 Brandon Slaten
26 Brad Evenson
10 William Haddon
5 Dave McMillen
2 Dominic Stott
1 Dana Harrod
1 Cass Marshall
1 Dave Ellis
The top four vote-getters are elected to two-year terms on
the board, so congratulations to Freya, Brandon, Brad, and
William.
Thanks to all who voted; we had 31 ballots returned out of
63 mailed out, or slightly less than half.

| Website Updates |
updated 6/19/2006
A number of updates to the website have been made:
The website now has a new host. This will provide us with
expanded functionality. A side effect is that many of the
page names and extensions have changed, which means that if
you have bookmarked any pages on the site they are likely
to point incorrectly. Please re-bookmark anything, especially
the forums.
I've added a new Calendar page
and functionality that will allow Board Members and the chair
of the SC to update event information themselves. This will
cut me out as the middleman from making timely updates to
the Events List.
I've added a Land of the Seven
Tribes Wiki to the site. See
this post in the forums for more information about the
Wiki.
As always, your feedback and suggestions for additional functionality
on the site are appreciated. Just
send me an email.

Secondly, I have added a new section to the left-hand navigation:

they relate to IFGS. Please send me a note if you have a site

| The Magician Cancelled |
| by ray
michel 5/5/2003
Hello to the chapter!
It is with sadness that I must announce to the D/B Membership
that the
Sanctioning Committee has decided not to allow sanctioning
for The Magician
in time for its run date of May 17-18. I have made efforts
throughout the
day to determine the root causes of this and to facilitate
the possibility of
continued efforts over the two weeks remaining until run date,
but both sides
(producer and SC) have assured me that they have no hope nor
intent to make
this attempt.
After speaking with the writer and producer of the game,
Richard Hartnett, he
has decided not to run the game unsanctioned. Though we all
love these games
and want to see them run, it should never be at the expense
of the chapter,
or IFGS, or its members. It is the feeling of both the designer
and the
Sanctioning Committee to take the extra time needed to make
sure that the
event is fun and fair to all who are involved. I applaud everybody
for
working together and keeping things rational. My hat is off
to the members
of the Sanctioning Committee and the staff of The Magician
for working so
tirelessly on this game and for making the toughest decision
of them all in
IFGS, when to push back a game.
The good news is that Richard has also informed me that he
intends to return
to the sanctioning process and get the details worked out
that caused the
rejection in the first place. He hopes it can run later in
the season, but
obviously that will have to wait until things are further
along, to announce
a new date.
In the meantime, to those people who paid a game fee already,
your money will
be refunded. The IFGS does not keep money for games that do
not run. Any
money that you paid to participate in The Magician should
be returned to you
immediately. None of the checks have been cashed, you will
receive your
original check back. At this time, Rena Stephan is managing
that and I have
asked Kaaren Davis, the Chapter Treasurer, to oversee this
process and help
Rena so that this occurs as expediently as possible. Please
contact Rena
Stephan at (719) 488-6655 to arrange for the return of your
game fee.
For those newer members, this is a practical illustration
of the strength --
and frailty -- of the sanctioning process. This is no indication
of anything
"being wrong." To the contrary, this illustrates
the fragile nature that a
completely voluntary organization must operate under; combined
with the
assertive nature that the chapter takes in attempting to deliver
only those
games to its membership that are deserving. The Sanctioning
Committee
understands that the effects of a sanctioned game can carry
throughout the
society and all of its chapters in that it distributes points,
magic items,
and character effects into the "IFGS economy." In
this case, it is a fine
example of showing that even though a game is a past recipient
of the IFGS
Game of the Year, it must always continue to meet the standards
of
sanctioning.
These are not easy decisions; the chapter understands that
declining a game
like this is denying the chapter a significant portion of
its yearly income.
I hope it also serves to demonstrate that the chapter will
put other
considerations ahead of its need to support itself monetarily.
The bottom
line is that we want to deliver a safe game and a good experience.
If a
designer appears unprepared, sometimes it is best just to
ask him to take a
breath and give himself more time. Having said that, I also
understand how
disappointing it is to everyone to see a game canceled or
postponed. I
apologize personally for any frustration or sadness that you
are feeling at
the lost chance to play an IFGS game and to see so many awesome
people.

An idea from the SoCal website: I'm going to create a "Character
Portraits" page wherein you will find a picture of

picture (preferably a close-up) of your character, please
send it to me
along with the character's name and the real name of the player. |

7/16/2002
The chapter board is establishing a policy to audit the registry
records. In essence what this means is that, in order to create
a working registry, it is necessary to get a good idea of
what each character has in terms of gold and magic, and what
each player has in terms of CAP. In order to do this, they
are requesting that everyone fill out some forms and submit
information to the registry audit.

We are sanctioned.
Scott Phelps no longer has a team. Teams are:

Mike Paguirigan (SoCal)
Seth Magle & David McMillen - 2 person team

Just show up to the site on game day. We'll be down as early
as Friday at 11AM if you want to come help set up.
We have just opened up a new option for NPC's. If you want
to pay ahead of time, you can pay via Paypal. See the MOF

| New Melee Editor |
| by matt
4/24/2002
An announcement from our own Dan Frazier:
Brian Booker has been the editor for the Melee. He has resigned
after a long stint putting out an electronic version. The
Denver Boulder Chapter of IFGS now has a new editor for the
Melee newsletter. It is me, Dan Frazier. Kathy and I did the
Melee for four or five years in the beginning. I’ve accepted
the job for another year. This May 2002 to April 2003.
We plan to put out 8 issues. These will be paper, mailed
and a lot of fun. The first issue out will be in early May.
It is already late April. That means I need a lot of submissions
from a number of people soon. I am cutting and pasting for
this May issue. Lynette Minor will handle the printing and
mailing.
All articles will have to be sent to me by email
- dfrazier@earthnet.net. NO FILES and NO ATTACHMENTS!!! I
cannot open microsoft word. pdf, acrobat etcetera.
If you submit an article to the Melee, please keep it short
and fun. ALL ARTICLES, PIECES, COLUMNS, ADS, FLYERS ... MUST
BE TO ME BY APRIL 30TH.
Ok, that's 6 days folks! Start writing! |

| Awards Banquet Ran! |
| by matt
4/15/2002
I attended the Awards
Banquet/A Serious Affair this weekend. Many thanks go
out to all the good people who worked hard on this game, too
numerous to mention here. There was a great turnout for the
event and I think it generated a lot of excitement for the
upcoming games.
I decided to fight in the weapons tournament, and while I
got my butt
kicked by Tom Mathews (big surprise there) in most of
the events, at least I haven't totally lost my touch.
I was greatly pleased to see so many people participate, including
a kid's tournament and the Amazon round. Congrats to Ty McMillen
and Kaaren Davis for winning those, respectively. I also had
fun being "assassinated" by Dave McMillen in the
Killdagger game, I was too busy taking bets on the time of
Lord Fuggi's death to watch my back closely enough.
A lot of awards were given out (3 hours worth! wheee....).
Dark Idol II won game of the year and Ray Michel won the Lifetime
Service Award. As soon as I get the list from El
Presidente, I'll add the entire list of all the winners
to the Awards page.
Now, if I could just get enough gold together so Morte
could pick himself up a homonculous... |
